The HELP for HEROES Talent Show Competition Final was held in the Village Hall on Saturday 30th January 2010. The show was directed and produced by Gemma Bell with lots of help. The judges were Nick Duncan (Chairman) of "Sounds Plus", Mr. David Croft OBE writer and producer, local girl Clare Presland opera singer and teacher and Paul Haynes the Arc Centre manager. Anglia Television presenter Jonathan Wills should have also been a judge but unfortunate circumstances meant he was not able to attend. Sgt. Wayne Ward was the compère assisted by Warrant Officer Bob Hargreaves. The event was sponsored by over 40 local companies businesses and individuals.
Fifteen contestants took part. Michelle Randè was awarded 1st place, Lucy Winter second place and Theresa Jude 3rd. Mr. David Croft OBE presented the trophies and Clare Presland presented a cheque for £2626.09 to Audrey McCune and Sgt. Wayne Ward on behalf of HELP for HEROES charity.
The other finalists were Olivia Banks, Amy Hurrell, Natasha Wilson, Sammy Moroney, Daniel Pettitt, Natalie Carr, Michelle Crowley, Kim Lockwood, Matthew Walters and Serena Grant. From Great Barton there was Sara Bebbington also Julie Dubroff. Julie performed "Take Good Care Of Yourself" her own song, music and lyrics, she especially written for HELP for HEROES.
The audience for the show was the largest the village hall has ever seen with 172 seated in the main hall and about another 30 in the new annexe watching via a "big screen".
